Can you stay unhappy because you don’t look a certain way that the society, that men, that women want you to look?
Can you live your life in despair and sadness thinking you are not good enough, just because someone else thinks that you are not ? They don’t follow a rule book made by you and your standards. So why should you ?
Can you live your life trying to get validations for your actions by people who don’t even matter in the long run?
Can you disrupt your mental peace because someone thinks you are doing things the wrong way and you need a reality check ?
The fact is everything is subjective.
An entire book can be written on our insecurities and the importance of self love and acceptance. I’ll reduce that to 5 sub-headings below-
Beauty standards
If you ask me, I find everyone beautiful, not the snow white kinda beautiful or the Aishwarya Rai Bachchan kinda beautiful. Some have beautiful eyes, some have beautiful face cuts, some have beautiful noses, some have beautiful figures, some have a beautiful smile, some have a beautiful set of teeth and so much more.
It’s time that we ditch thinking how the world sees us. And think beyond the already-set parameters of beauty. Just accept yourself. Love yourself. The entire world will never accept you. It is a fact. People think differently. They reason differently. They see beauty on a wide spectrum. And if you don’t fall into their spectrum, doesn’t mean you ain’t beautiful !
Not good enough
We as humans always have this weird notion that we are not enough. Even I feel that sometimes. I feel as if I’m not channelling my energy in the right direction. The fact is we are too much. Too good. Too deserving. Too capable. You will never be enough for everyone. Just make sure you are enough for yourself.
Look into the mirror and remind yourself everyday of who you are. You are a product of your mistakes, wiser than yesterday because you went through something terrible. You walked through storms and kept walking. You are everything you think you are not.- Taylor Swift.
The need for validation
It wasn’t long ago that I laid the foundation of my entire existence thinking what people thought about me. Thinking how I can please them, how I can be a part of their circle. I guess that phase comes in everybody’s life. But the question is- Does it even matter ?
You are years of work. And you still are a work under progress!
Never judge a rose for her petals. She may still be blooming
Make yourself a priority
All the trouble starts when you try to make someone else happy before you have tried to do the same with you. This is the most important principle of self acceptance.
Imperfections are beautiful
Those black marks on your face, that height you despise, wish you were a fast learner, wish that anger management was on point.
Those stretch marks on your thighs, the lack of confidence that is so evident, wish that you were more emotionally stable, wish you weren’t defeated ever.
The desire to be perfect is unending. How much longer are you going to avoid loving yourself ?
Love yourself. Pamper yourself before you spread that love to someone else. If you think that you need improvement, do that for the sake of yourself and only yourself. We are fighters. We are survivors. We are beautiful not only physically but also on the inside. We are strong. We are a driving force. Let’s not be so hard on ourselves.
Let’s accept ourselves for who we are and love ourselves like we want others to.
This post is a part of the Collaboration with a purpose. The theme for this month is self love and acceptance.

I think that the “not good enough” voice in our heads are a direct result of unfair comparisons we make. It’s too easy to compare ourselves to super models and or expect ourselves to have it all right away. We’re all on a journey and accepting where we are is the first step.

I totally agree with you ma’am.
You have so much wisdom in your words. 😍

Beautiful post! I agree many of us think we aren’t good enough and often compare ourselves to others. Now my new favourite phrase is, “I’m perfectly imperfect.” 😆
Also, I like the “Never judge a rose for her petals. She may still be blooming” part. 🌹

I love this, “You are years of work and you still are a work under progress.” It’s true and I believe that the only thing that’s constant in this world is change. Continuous improvement and change for the better.

I really enjoyed reading your post. It made me think about teens. I pray our younger generation can get ahold of this concept. I guess I cared what people thought of me when I was younger, but now, I’m not that concerned. I’ve learned to love and embrace the skin I’m in. God didn’t make mistakes. Thank you for taking time to write this post. It’s right on point. ,🌹

The simplicity of your personality and your confidence clearly reflects in your words Camilla. And yes we need more women like you in our society as role models.

You’re so right, we have to accept ourselves for who we are. If we don’t then those around us won’t accept us either because people learn from us how to treat us.

I cannot agree more.
It is a real challenge you know to Accept ourselves all the time everytime !
But I will tell that, we aren’t perfect. But what we feel about ourselves, is what influences a lot of things. The only thing we can always do is keep us our top priority no matter what ! Thank you so much for stopping by.
How has your week been ?

Yeah, it does, being positive and upbeat really helps. Honestly, Motherhood has changed me so much as a person, there have been moments extremely challenging which almost broke me, thankfully I didn’t give up. We have to remember, ‘it shall pass, good or bad’.
Take care
